BETAFLO duct is designed for application to the interior of commercial and residential sheet heating, ventilating and air conditioning ducts to attenuate noise generated by central air handling equip., air movement within the ducts, and occupants’cross-talk. It also serves to reduce heat loss or gain through sheet metal duct surfaces, which helps to prevent the formation of water vapor condensation on both sides i.e. inside the duct and on its exterior surface.
Insulation is used in air duct system for four basic reasons
- Temperature control – delivery of heated or cooled air at comfort levels suited to building occupancy requirements.
- Acoustical control – absorption of noise generated by central air handling equipment and movement of air through the ducts as well as cross talk carried by ducts from one space to another.
- Condensation control – prevents condensation in or on ducts when installed R-value recommendation is followed reducing the likelihood of moisture damage to ceilings and other interior finishes.
- Energy conservation – reduction of HVAC system operating cost by controlling heat loss or gain through air duct wall helps the system run more efficiently.
